Stephen Byrne

Your home really is your greatest investment. Before you buy, you should know as much as possible about the property, so that you can make an informed decision. I grew up on Staten Island, and worked with home improvement contractors from my teens to my early twenties. I joined the US Postal Service in 1988, and worked as a building equipment mechanic. Certified in industrial electric service, environmental controls (HVAC), I have decades of experience working with electricity, plumbing and HVAC.

As your Home Inspector, my goal is to make you aware of the condition of the home you are considering for purchase. Every home has issues, but most are simple fixes – your inspection report should let you know what those issues are, in plain English. The inspection report should also alert you to any major issues that need to be considered before buying.

As your Home Inspector, my obligation is to you and no one else. The only exception to this is if I find any serious safety hazards. I am required to disclose those to the owner/occupants of the house so they are not in danger.

I will be happy to answer any questions you have before, during or after the inspection. Even years after the inspection, you can call with questions about maintaining your home – it’s my favorite topic!

What’s it Cost?

You’re probably spending several hundred thousand dollars or more – does it make sense to go with the cheapest home inspection? What are you expecting to get for the lowest price?

Here’s what you can expect from me:

  • Arrive on time – seems basic, but I will not keep you waiting
  • Respect for the property – no muddy shoes on the carpet
  • Quick turnaround – you will have your completed report within 24-48 hours of confirmed payment
  • Attention to detail – your inspection report will be comprehensive, as per ASHI standards, and will include photos highlighting any questionable items
  • Continued contact – I will be glad to discuss any component of your home after the inspection, and after you complete the purchase of your home. Call anytime.
